BACK TO TOWNS INDEX

A trip along Historic Route 66 isn’t complete without a stop in Miami.  Situated at Grand Lake’s far north end, Miami’s small-town atmosphere is complemented by fun entertainment and attractions.

Outdoor enthusiasts can fish for spoonbill on the Neosho River or camp at Twin Bridges State Park on Grand Lake’s north tier. Golfers can head out to Peoria Ridge Golf Course.

Miami’s Coleman Theatre has been attracting visitors since 1929.  Built as a vaudeville theater and movie palace, it hosted appearances by many early stars including Will Rogers. This gem of architectural beauty is open for tours year-round.

In June top ranked cowboys and cowgirls compete for cash and prizes at the annual rodeo.

Oklahoma’s history runs even deeper in Miami at the Ottawa County Historical Society’s Dobson Museum. It includes Native American artifacts and exhibits providing insight to Oklahoma’s mining legacy.
