Membership Directory, Admiral’s Banquet and Poker Run
Highlight Our Forthcoming Grand Lake Chamber Activities
The sun is shining and the rain has come and gone… well, for a while anyway, and our regular visitors are returning to our beautiful Grand Lake. Welcome back!
We have finalized the plans for the style of our membership directory and Kristal will be calling all members to make sure you have an opportunity to display your business for the highest level of recognition. We are planning on printing hundreds of these and we will distribute them all around the lake to get the word out for you. This will be good for all members to help other Chamber members keep the money flowing around the lake.
Plans are underway for our Poker Run, to be held on June 28th. We will be giving many members the chance to bring potential customers to their front door. By being a sponsor and a distribution location, participants in the poker run will boat and drive all over the area to pick up chips to give them the opportunity to draw the wining hand. We are planning a fun drawing party with food and beverages for all. More to come as plans develop.
We need to make you aware of a change on our Membership Luncheon Meeting scheduled for later this month. The meeting will be held on May 29th at Arrowhead Yacht Club instead of on the 22nd. Our program has changed, as Mr. Fields will be joining us in June instead of May. We are pleased instead to bring you a program from the Department of Commerce. Shelli Todd, who is the Director of the 2nd Century Entrepreneurship Center will have a presentation for us. This program will follow the theme of our earlier programs this year in providing our small business people good information on how to really succeed in business. If you missed last month’s program with Wayne Blackmon, you really missed out on some great information, no matter what size your business may be. Call the Chamber office on 782-3214 to make your reservations and we will see you there.
Another great cause and event is coming on May 17th. The Admiral’s Recognition Banquet and Charity Auction will be held at Cherokee Yacht Club. You read about it in this column last week and if you are a member you got more information in our second new letter of the year that went out last week. This event helps Home of Hope provide a great service to our fellow citizens that need help with their daily living. Be a part of this event and help others in need.
If you got our newsletter you saw one of the photos of some of our board members as we traveled to Oklahoma City to the State Chamber’s Small Business Day at the Capitol. When our group was sitting in the gallery of the Senate we were at the right place at the right time. The senators were discussing an amendment to a House bill that had to do with Lake issues and every time a Senator asked a question they referred to Grand Lake and the effects the legislation would have on our visitors and residents of our Lake. As the discussion was broken off Senator Mary Easley introduced each of our group by name from the Senate floor. Then all the members of the Senate stood and gave a round of applause. The timing could not have been better. Thanks again to all the members of the legislature for giving us such a warm welcome.
Have a Grand Day!!!
Hello everyone, this is Kristal. I asked Jim to share the column for the Chamber this week because I wanted to share some exciting news about one of our members with each of you.
First off, I would like to thank Sam, Stacy, Keara and Quinton from Spring Valley Ranch for allowing us to spend a wonderful day with them. Sam invited us to come to their lodge and see everything they have to offer visitors and everyone in the Grand Lake area. Paula and I met with them on Friday and spent the entire day. The weather was perfect for a wonderful adventure on ATV’s, riding around the 200+ acres of the property. We both enjoyed the wilderness setting surrounding the beautiful rustic lodge. The lodge was formerly an old hay barn. Words can not describe the beauty of this place. We were treated to a delicious lunch and spent time visiting, just as if we were all old friends. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing neither of us wanted to leave. The most exciting part about the lodge, besides what we have already shared, is the team building ropes challenge course on the property, including a 300 foot zip line. There is a gorgeous outdoor setting for weddings, reunions and corporate retreats. Again, thank you Sam and your family for the wonderful hospitality you shared with us. We will be sending out more information about Spring Valley Ranch in the near future. If you would like more information now or are curious to see what we enjoyed, feel free to call 918-253-8231 or visit their website at www.springvalleyranchok.com.
