Hope of Hope Events Set for May
This week we have asked our friends at Home of Hope to fill us in on the Grand event they have planned for this month. The chamber does have two events that you need to be involved with, First is May 10th, shoreline cleanup day, The chamber Group will be gathering @ The Bistro in Cleora @ 9:00 AM and will be picking up trash around the Dumpster Area (hope the water goes down).
Second is the following Saturday, May 17th, Trash off Day. The Chamber group will start at Reasors’ and one group will work one mile North and the other one mile South. The Lyons Club of Grand Lake will also be out in force working on the two miles West of Langley. Come help us make our Lady Grand and Clean. Call for information @ 782-3214.

Welcome to One of Grand Lake’s Most Distinguished Events
One of Grand Lake’s most distinguished events takes place at Cherokee Yacht Club on Saturday, May 17 at 6:00 p. m. It is the Home of Hope 4th Annual Admiral’s Recognition Banquet and Charity Auction, celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Home of Hope. You will not want to miss this charity banquet and auction, hosted by radio personality John Erling and professional auctioneer J. B. Robison, that recognizes community leaders, volunteers, donors and client achievements.
Dave Svedman, Home of Hope CEO promises another stellar evening with a guest list that will include celebrities and our usual outstanding group of Grand Lakers. This years “Fleet Admirals” of the event are Bob Hartley and Laura Neely, the founding families of Home of Hope and are being honored for their lifetime dedication. Auction items at this event are always top of the line, ranging from exotic resort vacations to jewelry, dinners, sports memorabilia, art, collectibles & more.
For 40 years area non-profit Home of Hope, Inc has provided residential and vocational services to persons with developmental and other disabilities with the mission of promoting choices, independence and a meaningful way of life. Home of Hope has almost 60 residential locations in Northeast Oklahoma and clients are employed at over 20 local business.
In addition, Home of Hope operates many businesses that employ its clients and teach vocational skills that they can use in future employment at area businesses. Those include Hope Industries, Hornets Corner Diner, Attention to Detail auto detailing, Maid to Perfection house cleaning service and commercial janitorial crews all in Vinita. In Miami they operate cleaning crews and the Salvation Army Service Center. In Claremore Home of Hope operates Rogers County Training Center, Centsible Spending thrift store, a recycling operation in conjunction with the City, and janitorial services.
Proceeds from the annual Admiral’s Club campaign help provide needed funds for the HOPE ’08 $500,000 Annual Campaign supporting operations, facilities and programs in Northeast Oklahoma. Currently, HOH serves more than 270 persons with developmental and other disabilities. Its operations employ almost 400 staff and ranks as one of the area’s largest employers.
