Chamber Article 4-17-08
Enough with the rain and wind! We need SUN with our Wind.
We have completed our collection of information for our Membership Directory. Members will now have an opportunity to improve their visual aids in the directory. For a small fee you can put a business card size ad in the Directory instead of just your Name, address, phone, e-mail and website. This publication will be a pocket size piece of information to carry with you, hand out to customers and refer to, when you are in need of services around the Pond.
Kristal has begun contacting businesses that would like another opportunity to get the word out about their business. If you are a current member of the Chamber you will be included with a listing in your category of services offered, as well as in an index in the back of the directory referring to your page and ad. You do not have to wait for the chamber staff to call you. You can call and let us know you are interested in making your business pop out on the page.
We are in the middle of updating the web site with all the current members. We have realized that the Services Category has many different types of businesses. Soon we will have this area of the site broken down to make it easier for web surfers to find your information.
For those of you who have joined in recent months, we are going through all of the applications to see where your areas of interest lay. We will be adding you to committees you would like to serve on and projects we will have in the months to come. YES! You can be involved in Chamber activities.
Speaking of activities, the Chamber board is working on selecting activities for you to be involved and showcase you business. They include a Poker Run with lots of locations, a Golf Tournament, and a Fabulous Dining Experience. Details will be coming to you soon.
In keeping with our President Judy Florida’s Goal of providing information to help Small Business, the Chamber Membership Luncheon next Thursday will feature a presentation on “Why Advertise My Business”. The date is April 24th and the time is 11:30 a.m. at Cherokee Yacht Club. So PLEASE call the office on 782-3214 and make a reservation.
This will be a good chance to meet the new management of the Club, Rod & Dawn. We need to know you are coming so the Chef will have the right amount of food for all.
If you are not a member and would like to attend the meeting call the office for information or get a current member to bring you and see how the Chamber helps businesses grow and prosper at Grand Lake.
As one of our mission’s at the Chamber is to work with our State Legislators we are going to the Capitol in Oklahoma City next Monday. This is Small Business Day at the Capitol. This event is put on by the State Chamber and will include a presentation by our Lt. Governor Askins. You will have a chance to visit the office of your State Representative and Senator. I have found that going to visit face-to-face with your member of the state and federal government in their office shows a commitment about your concern of their actions. You can find information about this event at www.okstatechamber.com and click Events Calendar or call the chamber office. The Oklahoma Restaurant Association will be providing food for a reception. See you there!!
Have A GREAT GRAND DAY!!!!
